Ingredients
Scale
4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of warm water (about 110°F)
2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
1/4 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of softened butter
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
Start by combining the warm water and active dry yeast in a bowl. Add the sugar and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the softened butter. Mix until a dough starts to form.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm environment for about 30 minutes.
Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and place a generous tablespoon of shredded cheese in the center. Carefully fold the edges and roll into a ball.
Arrange the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a cloth and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the surface of each roll with the beaten egg.
Place the rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until they're golden brown.
Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Enjoy them warm.
