6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts, if preferred)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (or any spicy sauce of your choice)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your desired spice level)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, Sriracha, garlic, ginger, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken thighs (or breasts) and toss to coat the meat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Arrange the marinated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not touching. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
For an extra layer of sweet and crispy caramelization, you can broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Keep a close eye on the chicken to prevent burning.
Remove the baked chicken from the oven and transfer it to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro, if desired. Serve the Sweet and Spicy Chicken immediately, while it’s hot and delicious!
