Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. peeled and deveined shrimp
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 8–10 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix
- 1/2 cup diced avocado
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, sour cream, hot sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the spices.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are opaque and cooked through. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough and rubbery.
- While the shrimp is cooking, warm the tortillas according to the package instructions. You can do this in a dry skillet, on the grill, or in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
- Place a few pieces of the cooked shrimp in the center of each warm tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, diced avocado, red onion, and chopped cilantro. Squeeze a lime wedge over the top of each taco for a refreshing burst of flavor.
- Serve the spicy shrimp tacos immediately, with any additional toppings such as diced tomatoes, sour cream, or hot sauce on the side. Encourage your guests to customize their tacos to their liking for a truly personalized dining experience.
