Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (14.75 oz) can of wild-caught salmon, drained and flaked
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: Lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or remoulade sauce for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the drained and flaked salmon, panko breadcrumbs, beaten egg, onion, bell pepper, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well-incorporated.
- Using your hands, gently shape the salmon mixture into evenly sized patties, about 3-4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of olive oil or vegetable oil over medium heat. When the oil is hot, carefully add the salmon patties to the pan, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
- Once the salmon patties are cooked, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve the Southern Salmon Patties hot, with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or remoulade sauce on the side for dipping.
