Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole branzino (about 23 pounds)
  • 8 oz lump crab meat (fresh or canned; make sure it’s quality)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (for a gluten-free alternative, use almond flour)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (Greek yogurt can be a lighter substitute)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean the branzino, removing its guts and scales, and ensure it’s fileted correctly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the lump crab meat, breadcrumbs, onion, red bell pepper, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Fold together gently.
  4. Gently open the cavity of the branzino and spoon in the crab imperial mixture.
  5. Place the stuffed branzino on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Carefully transfer the branzino to a serving platter, and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
